My ’Long and Winding Road’, perhaps. Really, just an earnest effort to write a nice little song about love, which, truthfully, is one of the hardest things to manage. I remembered reading that the cello was the closet instrument to the human voice. If that’s true, it stood to reason that a cello part could be sung, which is what I did both in the original demo and the version you hear here. It’s more elementary school music class student than Yo-Yo Ma, but you get the idea. For Christmas in 2021, my son gifted me a Melodica, which I adore. You can tell which recordings have been made since that time, as I have resorted to my new toy often. It was the perfect choice for the instrumental break in this one, which quickly and seamlessly replaced the English Horn software placeholder I’d been using. Funny how things work out.
