I think this was about the first song in the twenty-five year journey. It came about after stumbling upon an old article that shared the secret of Keef’s signature sound. His five-string tele/open-G tuning delivered a lovely counterpoint to an AC/DC-like riff I’d been playing with. By this time in life, I’d been fired from a job (for ineptitude more than anything) and this would have influenced the first verse. I’d also been to my first Leaf game to experience the lunchbag letdown of NHLers taking TV time outs. And I think there was a kerfuffle at the time about Chretien going somewhere warm to golf? You are forgiven for thinking it was about someone else.
