This is my attempt to emulate the elegant simplicity of the great Ron Sexsmith, whose amazing album “Other Songs” I bought when it was first released in ‘97. Ron happened to be walking past our old semi in East Toronto one day and I summoned the courage to say hi. He had just worked with Steve Earle, who I also admire. Unfortunately, I had to stop listening to his records because the prolific Mr. Sexsmith was churning out great albums as fast as I could write a single crummy song. It was just too much for my fragile confidence. Still, I hope that he might have appreciated this humble effort, particularly of the lyrics in the bridge, which captured pretty well the hardscrabble period I was experiencing at the time.
